Welcome to the fromdream2reality website where you will find unusual sculpture, jewellery and art works that have been made with the emphasis on quality, finish and attention to detail.  All of the pieces are individual as they have been hand made and many of the items are truly unique which I couldn't replicate even if I tried.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS SITE IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION THEREFORE THE DESCRIPTIVE TEXT IS IN PROGRESS HOWEVER THE PICTURES ARE VIEWABLE AND CAN BE ENLARGED BY CLICKING ON THEM, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE AND OTHERS ARE TO FOLLOW SHORTLY.

In order to categorise the works I have followed the definition that "Art goes on the wall, Sculpture goes on the floor".

The:

♦  Sculptures are, in the main, created from adapted, recycled and found items such as wood, stone and metal as well as everyday objects (or their component parts, aquired from various sources) to create unique works.   The exceptions being "Chaucer" and "Booty" which were made from clay when I had access to a kiln.

♦  Jewellery or "Alternative Jewellery" (non precious) is in the form of dichroic glass, mixed media - including clock parts, buttons, beads, recycled materials, electronic/electrical components, wood, wire work etc and is constructed using hand crafted methods and techniques with the emphasis on originality, quality, wear-ability and longevity.

This will ensure that the jewellery is different, appealing and "not found on the high street".

♦  Art:

There are a range of art works available, created in different mediums:

  • Some use adapted materials for example my clock-part fish pictures
  • There is wire work
  • There are hand drawn/coloured pieces
  • There are photographs that have been photo-manipulated
  • as well as digital/fractal works

Later I hope to provide greetings card, posters and other printed items with some of these designs.

My name is Neil Barker, I am based in Fareham, Hampshire and have recently "discovered" arts and crafts.  I enjoy the challenge of making new creations from adapting items that are currently available and turning them into something else.  As such I am happy to undertake commissions to use any broken or "old stuff" you may have and attempt to give it new life.  These then become bespoke one-off artistic commissions that are personal to the owner, which I think is quite nice.
